The Fair Play Winery Association website has a new look.  But it doesn’t just look different.  It’s been completely redesigned to serve wine tourists and locals alike with an interactive and comprehensive guide to area wineries, dining, lodging, historical and cultural resources.  Visitors to will find the website more accessible on all of their internet devices via social media.  They will have more timely, relevant information about the 21 member grower/winemakers and their events.  Each member winery has the ability to update its information on the website in real time.  Multimedia links to entertaining and useful information complement the user’s online experience.  Finally, a monthly newsletter available at the website and by subscription provides winery profiles and current information on new releases, events, awards and other announcements of interest.

The new website reflects and showcases the unique and dynamic character of the Fair Play AVA (American Viticultural Area).  One of the newest recognized AVAs, the average elevation of Fair Play vineyards among the foothills between 2000 and 3000 feet is the highest of any in California.  Hence, the Association’s tagline:  “Wines with an Altitude.”  The pioneering character of this old gold mining community is reflected in the adventuresome spirit of boutique winemakers producing exemplary wines heavily influenced by the wide variety of unique soil and climate combinations found here.  Most of the winemaking traditions of France and Italy are found in Fair Play, but its winemakers are also plowing new ground with non-traditional blending combinations.  Grape varieties which have been largely unknown in California are also finding some of their earliest and most enthusiastic devotees among those who have discovered the charms of Fair Play.

And those charms are highlighted during the Fair Play Winery Association’s signature event, the Fair Play Festival, during the first weekend of June.  Full details of that event can be found at
